ntpd: time reset

в messages сыпятся вот такие сообщения от ntp. насколько я понимаю, это означает уход часов на полсекунды-секунду за 20 минут, что как-то слишком дофига
в 01,18 пробовал пофиксить методом из рассылки http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/free ... 55010.html - потушил ntp, удалил /var/db/ntp.drift, запустил ntp - теперь почти секунда
вопрос что происходит и как это поправить?

Ты уверен, что у тебя юзается /etc/ntp.conf? Это первое и второе у меня ntpd все свои сообщения пишет в свой лог...

По поводу второго, сервера, с которыми у тебя синхронизация, не фигурируют в ntp.conf.
По поводу первого, добавь в ntp.conf

Судя по ntpq -p сервера какие-то ненадежные с большим разбросом. Может у них время убегает шибко?

попробовал поменятьт сервера на [0-3].pool.ntp.org iburst
посмотрим
после запуска time reset 0.3 сек

железка старая уровня p4, все больше подозреваю ее
кстати, может таймер другой поставить? чем это черевато?
сейчас судя по всему таймер TSC, опирается на частоту проца/ а dmesg предлагает таймер i8254 с частотой около мегагерца
