Поставил себе Fluxbox. Вроде работает без проблем. Озаботился выбором файлового менеджера, функционального как наутилус хотя бы, но чтобы ресурсов жрал поменьше. Склоняюсь к Thunar, ибо, как мне кажется, самый лучший выбор в плане потребления ресурсов и возможностей. Или я не прав и стоит обратить внимание на что-то еще?

MC есть, bash и sh тоже пользуюсь. Тут речь идет о чем-то более привычном и мышкоуправляемом.

Ставь pcmanfm. Выглядит так же как Thunar, зато без xfce'шных библиотек. Качать лучше последнюю версию с svn.
Еще можешь попробовать rox-filer.

Thunar, pcmanfm, rox-filer используют gtk, библиотеки одни и те же. )))

И мне. Только thunar не поставился, а поставился pcmanfm. Теперь новый касяк нашелся, при старте иксов не работают ни клава, ни мышь.

выключи опцию AllowEmptyInput в секции ServerFlags:
Option "AllowEmptyInput" "False"
в последних версиях X по-умолчанию она включена.
и клава и мышь заработают снова, только иногдамогут появляться некоторые "артефакты", ну да о них потом.

Тормозов не заметил. Из касяков ругается на отсутствие файла .gtkrc-2.0 с указанной там темой иконок. Но это вылечилось созданием самого файла и прописыванием туда значений. Правда темы иконок нет.
