совместимость FreeBSD с z77

интересует вопрос совместимости матплаты на z77 чипсете с freebsd 10
материнка MSI Z77A-G43, планируется аппаратный RAID 1 на этом чипсете. пока как файлопомойка для небольшого офиса, а там посмотрим.
возможно установить ось сразу на RAID?

Встроенный в южный мост софтовый RAID поддерживается только в Windows. Во все остальных ОС (Linux,FreeBSD,MacOS) RAID не поддерживается.

хмм тогда вариант gmirror?
отдельный контроллер для этих целей наверно не целесообразен.

Я бы не был так категоричен, но именно этот контроллер нужно конечно либо смотреть вживую, либо гуглить но без опять же вживую посмотренного pciconf думаю это будет не тривиально.
Другой вопрос насколько он нужен, когда есть нормальный програмный рейд и тем более ZFS. Если всё же хочется то вроде graid смотреть.

скорее всего в конце недели получу в руки материнку с дисками и смогу что-то ответить по ней, если кому-то это интересно.

Я бы не был так категоричен
Я уже с ними сталкивался. Если еще на чипсетах 5-ой серии даже можно было из биоса управлять рэйдом, то с 6-ой версии делается всё из под винды. А при начале установки, в бсд и лине, даже при включённом режиме RAID, все равно видится как 2 независимых диска. Да и gmirror будет понадёжнее.

все как и говорил Electronik это полная хня, а не RAID.
в биосе пишет что он RAID, но определяется как 2 диска + intel raid volume. и даже устанавливается на него, но после этого в биосе переходит в состояние REBUILD. и естессно ничего не зеркалится. но что интересно системой он все таки определяется. вот такая пичалька.
